Buenas,

Hi,
I don't know now, what is the future of the project. During few years I believed
in "free" software. I made everything to improve it. Now I hear, that own work
is based in everything from other project. I don't know what to say. I will need
probably long time to find some decision.
I know few things now.
With commercional software You don't have to show source, You can make money
from it and normal man from the street can't start to fight with You, that You
stolen his source.
In open source there are only quarrels. When You make dirty work connected with
developing something everyone is happy. But when You try to give Your project to
more professional users and find some money for it, You start to be easy target
for people, who try to use all possible proofs, that You stolen their work.
When You used the same specs, it's their derived work.
When You use the same concept for device layer, it's their derived work.
When You rewrite something, it's their derived work.
Etc.
In this moment I start to understand, why it isn't possible to make many things
on Linux, why many people don't want to touch it and why Microsoft is so
powerfull. He simply has money and he can do money, because doesn't have to show
his sources and doesn't have to proof everyone, that used some even stupid
source things. Normal people from street don't have enough power to fight with
him, student is easy target. Normal people need verdict from judgement.
I can't do fundation, I can't start to sell documentation for Gammu, because
simple don't have time for it.
I sorry for it, that I have technical knowledge, which was used in Gnokii too.
If Open Source (I don't care now about definition and about it, if I understand
it in good meaning) looks this way, it expect too much from me. Sharing source
seems to be not enough, spending a lot of time for fun and others high targets
is not enough. Open Source needs additionaly, that You need to be excellent
fighter and on each step concrencrate not on project, but on fights.
Now when will even start Gammu+ and show sources for it, I will always hear,
that it's derived work from Gammu and earlier. If I will close source, I will
hear, that I can't legally sell it (for example), because it could be based
somehow on Gammu and earlier.
This is bitter. Thank You Pavel and now Marcel. I didn't have good opinion about
Pavel, but You Marcel too ?
You don't need to answer for it. This is simple consequence of Your steps. Very
bitter words, solitude. I don't care, if I look like kid in others eyes now.
It learned me one thing: don't be too good for others.
